Language of instruction and language requirements

Generally, the language of instruction is Turkish but some of the courses are held in English.

It is possible for the international students to learn Turkish at the University via some courses that will be opened upon requirement).

The language requirements for the incoming students (in reading, writing and speaking): level B1 on the CEFR scale (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) or equivalent.

Accommodation

Istanbul Esenyurt University has no dormitory for its students but has agreements with private student hostel and hotels. Therefore the prices for accommodation is noticeably low considering the other prices.

Food

The student ID cards in Istanbul Esenyurt University are composed to act also as a food card. Students load credits in their cards and are to be used at the school cantine.

As for other possibilities, the University is in the middle of the city, therefore even between the courses it is possible to eat out.

Travel

All Students studying in İstanbul have the right to gain a travel card making it possible to travel at lower prices. For the card the students will be given a document stating them as students. With a photo and their student ID they will be issued with the travel card.

School Clubs

There is an active Erasmus Club in İstanbul Esenyurt University, their students act as mentors and support to the international students.

Communication

There are 3 GSM operators which have approximately 95% of coverage area and each has 3G services. Internet access is available across the country

Vacations

Summer holidays

Half term

Religious Holidays are held on different days every year accordingly to lunar calendar. ( Ramadan and Eid al Adha (Kurban ) )

National holidays which are held on the same day every year (Such as 1 January, 23 April, 1 May, 30 August, 19 May, 29 October)

 

 

ERASMUS+  INSTITUTIONAL AGREEMENTS

To be able to send and receive students for the coming year we prefer to make Erasmus + Agreement before 1st May . But we are open to any international and bilateral cooperation possibilities.

Every Erasmus+ cooperation proposal must define the subject area and the relative department of the Istanbul Esenyurt University to which the proposal refers.

GRADING SYSTEM AND  TRANSCRIPT OF RECORDS

The Transcript of Records in English for the incoming students is issued by the IRO at the students’

 

departure and it includes an explanation of the institutional grading system with respect to the ECTS grading system.

For each course taken, the student is given one of the following grades by the course teacher. The letter grades, grade points and percentage equivalents are given below:

Other grades: I: Not complete, NA: Not Attended, P: Satisfactory, F: Unsuccessfull, M: Exempt, T: Transferred, W: Withdrawal

The grade I is given to student who successfully completed the course but unable to attend the exams due to a documented illness and other reasons. NA is given if a student does not fulfil the attendance requirements of the course. P is given to the students who are successful in a non-credit course and F is given who student who was not successful in a non-credit course.T is given to students who studied in another İnstitute the given course and successfully completed it.
W is given to student who withdrew from the course in the given timetable with the approval of the student adviser.

 

ECTS credits: 1 full academic year = 60 credits; 1 semester =30 credits
